Welcome to the NEW Ultimate Dynasty Hockey League
Imagine becoming the GM of your favourite NHL team. Now imagine Bettman getting canned and the NHL contracts by 10 and is now having a dispersal draft. Now imagine that you like fantasy hockey and that the NHL is actually called the UDHL.
The UDHL is a new, unique, FREE and very deep keeper pool and we are looking for dedicated and savvy owners for our inaugural season.
In a nutshell:
1) Adopt an NHL team and inherit any 20 of their players/prospects.
2) The UDHL will have 20 Teams, so the inaugural draft is essentially an 8-round Dispersal Draft taken from the 10 unselected NHL teams.
3) 20 teams, 28 players per team (including prospects). Roster Sizes: Fx12, Dx6, Gx1 Bench/Farm 9. Keep a total of 24 players per year. (17 + 7 prospects). A yearly 1-round slow forum-based amateur draft held in the summer right after the NHL entry draft. Yearly 4-round waiver/free-agent draft prior to each season consisting of all unprotected players. Hosted on Fantrax.
Point System:Forwards/Defensemen
Scoring for F/D is approximately 90% Points and 10% 'secondary categories'.
Main category for F and D is straight Points:
1G = 1A = 1 Point
Secondary categories:
PIM: .02 (= 1 point per 50 PIM)
Shorthanded Points: 0.2 (= 1 point per 5 Shorthanded Points)
Game-Winning Goals: 0.1 (= 1 point per 10 GWG)
Fights: 0.1 (= 1 point per 10 fights)
Hits: 0.02 (= 1 point per 50 hits)
Blocked Shots: 0.04 (= 1 point per 25 blocked shots)
+/-: .02 (= +1 or -1 points for every +20 or -20 rating)
A player with average statistics in the secondary categories will typically get an extra 5 points total by the end of the year. A player ranking near the top of multiple secondary categories could attain closer to 10 points.
Goalies
Main categories for goalies:
W = 1 Point, SO = 1 Point
Secondary goalie categories:
OT Loss 0.2
GP 0.1
Goal = Assist = 1 Point
Saves 0.1
Goals Against -0.9 .
The Saves and Goals against points works out to goalies receiving points for maintaining 0.900 save% or better.
Altogether the top 10 goalies typically score in the 80-100 point range, and most starting goalies have more than 50 points.

All the finer league details can be seen under the CBA(Rules) section on our website ulthockey.blogspot.com. I have run some keeper leagues for years and have tweaked the blueprint of a successful leagues as the model for this league but with lots more emphasis if prospect development. But considering the nature of the league start-up, this one will be free.
If you are interested, there are 2 ways to join:
1) Join the league and claim a team immediately. But getting your choice of your starting NHL team comes at a price. Once you pick your NHL team you will be placed last available slot in our inaugural draft order. So if you were the first to select your NHL team, you will pick #20, #40, #60, etc.., if you selected the second team you would draft 19, 39, 59, ect. The draft will be non-snaking.
2) If a GM would prefer to be closer to the #1 overall pick for our inaugural draft, they can hold their place for a team in the league and then wait until all spots are filled. These GMs will be placed into the 'lottery list'. Once all spots in the league are filled a randomized lottery will determine the draft order for the GMs on the 'lottery list'. After the draft lottery is complete, the last-place GM will get to pick their NHL team first, the second-last place GM will get to pick their team, second, etc., until all GMs have selected their NHL-starting team.
Contact me or leave a comment on this post to claim your team or be placed on the draft Lottery List!
Cheers,
Commissioner Pete
